The Flag Project was initiated by students in 2018 following bias incidents targeting a Dominican students’ flag and the Queer Resource Center (QRC) flag. With the Women & Gender Resource Action Center (WGRAC), students created The Flag Project to celebrate identity as a means to counter bias and bigotry. The Flag Project seeks to make visible under-represented communities to create a more welcoming campus environment. The Flag Project photo shoot occurs at the DEI Block Party during First-Year Orientation. For incoming first-years—especially those who are international, BIPOC, first generation, members of a religious minority community, and/or represent a non-majority population—it is an exciting experience of pride. WGRAC partners with the Office of International Student Services (OISS), DEI, and Office of Multicultural Affairs. Flag Project posters will be on display in the Cave until March 1.
